Chill out

We finally picked up an umbrella for our patio furniture. We eat lunch or dinner outside at least five times a week, so we figured it would be well worth the expense.

One foot in front of the other

My legs and feet were killing me this morning, after a Saturday night run and a Sunday morning bike ride, but with such beautiful weather it doesn't seem right to not do anything at all, so we headed out on a 1-hour walk with Buddy.

I walked out of the bathroom this morning and discovered the padding in Buddys bed was in the middle of the living room floor and immediately I assumed Donna had done it. Turns out, Buddy did it, so he now has two beds.

Saturday nights I walk Buddy by myself since Donna is at work. The 4.5 miles seems to take forever without Donna by my side. It was a very pretty evening though. I need to map out some different 4.5-mile routes, cuz I'm kind of getting tired of this one after doing it six days a week.

Buddy tried to stay up for Donna Saturday night, but failed. He did manage to stay awake one hour later than usual - typically he's 'out' by 9pm.

Savoring the sunlight

As summer begins to come to an end, I recall the months of driving home from work after the sun has already set. Walks with Buddy will be in the dark, through the winter months, and while that might be months away, I still try to make sure I'm not taking anything for granted today.

TUCKERED OUT

It didn't take long for Donna and Buddy to doze off Thursday night after a long walk and dinner. Once they're both asleep is the best time to get photos, without anyone complaining about me taking pictures.

Curiosity

Buddy, no matter how often we've gone hiking, has never seemed too interested in venturing off the trail. He just doesn't seem all that curious about his surroundings. The other night he discovered lizards, which of course are way too fast and maneuverable for him to catch, but he still likes chasing them. He broke out of his shell a little Wednesday night when we ventured off road and he started checking out all the nooks and crannies provided by the thick brush.

Blue skies, at last

The marine layer in the mornings has been a bit on the depressing side, but the evenings at least have been beautiful.

Our Wednesday night walk

Wednesday was a heck of a day in the office. A little after 6pm Donna was texting me, asking if I was still going to be able to walk with her and Buddy and it was real tempting to tell them to go ahead without me. Given what little exercise I get these days and how stressful work has been, I knew I needed to go. As always, the walk was great and we ventured off road a little bit to let the little guy do some sniffing around.

I like Buddy. I don't like Buddy kisses.

I had to spend some quality time with the little man during our lunch break today. As you can tell by my scrunched-up face, I don't care for his kisses (though Donna seems to love them).

photo

After a long walk this morning we stopped for lunch at Panera (which has since given me quite a stomach ache) then did a little shopping for some home items. We found a nice, big mirror for under $40 and picked up a comforter and bed skirt for the guest room, as well as a shower curtain for the guest bathroom. Now all we need are guests.

I know Buddy is tuckered out when he only uses 4' of a 16' leash.
