THUR A.M.

Having a Starbuck's right across the street from our new home is both a blessing and a curse.

Both Donna and Buddy would just occasionally open their eyes Wednesday night after a long walk and dinner.

SHORT EVENINGS, LONG SHADOWS

The late-day sunlight, the nearby scenery and the wonderful company of Donna make our evening walks quite enjoyable. Nevertheless, as I look at my recent photos, compared to my photos of just a few months ago, I'm realizing how little variety there is to life, today.

I know, the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence, but I miss having the time for Donna and I to watch the sun set from the top of a mountain during an after-work mountain bike ride.

It's just been a big change I guess and one that it's taking time to adjust to.

AN OBSCENE HOUR

AN OBSCENE HOUR by BroAndDonna
AN OBSCENE HOUR, a photo by BroAndDonna on Flickr.

5:30am is not my favorite time of the day. An hour like that is designed for roosters and overachievers. I'm neither.

Regardless, after missing last night's walk, I was determined to go out with Donna and Buddy this morning.

RELIEF

After a long day at work, followed by more work once I get home, there's nothing more comforting than my sweetheart's company. Donna had to walk Buddy by herself Tuesday night since work was keeping me so busy but the three of us had a little time together before concluding the day.

SOMEONE IS CATCHING ON

Buddy is figuring out the routine. He gets his morning walk, comes home for breakfast, and not long after that is left alone for the morning while we go to work. We've been keeping an eye on him via the webcam and he spends about 15 minutes a day howling due to separation anxiety. We're trying to figure out a way to help him, so our leaving isn't so stressful for him. He's great at making us feel guilty and has mastered the sad, puppy face.

WAVING GOOD-BYE

One day I made the mistake of showing buddy how to watch as mom was leaving to run an errand. Now, whenever we leave, he runs to the front window to watch. Mistake or not, it's nice seeing him one last time before heading to work.

Dad is finally letting me post to his blog, after a week of begging. The biggest news of the week is that I'm now allowed on the sofa. I've proven that I can do so without chewing on the upholstery or doing any other damage.
