DONNA IN HER GLORY

Having been deprived of sushi for quite some time, Donna and I shared
dinner Monday night at Planet Sushi. What a treat!

SAY HELLO TO OUR LITTLE FRIEND

We're gearing up for a camping trip in June so we broke out the tent
donated to us by my parents. Of course we pitched the tent to make
sure all was well, only to find a rubber bat and lizard (not pictured)
kindly left behind by the practical jokesters of the family.

DINNER & A VIEW

After a 4 hour hike Sunday with some new found friends, it was off to
Marty's for dinner. Chef Phi topped off our day with some pork & beef
on the grill. I won't comment on how much wine Donna had throughout
the event.

IT RAINS, EVEN IN SoCal

We had a close call here in Ventura County today.... it almost rained.
Fortunately the board voted against it and the clouds moved back into
the mountains.

WISHFUL THINKING

The long work days continue with Juliette being on vacation. All I can
do is look out the window wishing I was outside enjoying the sunny, 70-
degree weather instead of sitting in here watching as night gets
closer and closer.

SUNSET ON THE PCH

We spent Sunday evening watching as the sun set over...um.. Oxnard. We
had planned to watch as it disappeared into the ocean but it isn't
setting where it did a few months ago, reminding is that the coastline
runs east/west through Ventura County, not north/south. In short, when
we look out over the ocean we're actually looking south, not west. It
was spectacular nevertheless watching as the sun creeped down on the
Pacific Coast Highway.

MY FRUITY WIFE

What better time than a Sunday afternoon to get some fresh strawberries!

A NIGHT AT STARBUCKS

Ok, so I'm being a geek tonight, sitting at Starbucks with my iPhone
and laptop, passing the time and sipping on a latte. How exciting is
my life!

LAZY ME

The boss if off to Europe for two weeks which means I'm stuck at the
office working 8-5 (in theory) which is so different from my usual
12-9. Usually I get up in the morning and get a ride in before work
but I can never seem to exercise in the evening - So here I sit at
7:30 Friday night thumbing through the Dirt Rag that just arrived
today when I could probably be out riding!

ALL THIS FOR HALF A TANK

I can't bring myself to spend $80 at the gas station so I've found
that spending $40 twice as often seems to take the sting out. Thank
goodness Donna rides her bike to work every day.

IT'S ALL ABOUT PEOPLE

There's no doubt that you should enjoy what you do for a living, but
so many times it's the people you work with, not the job itself, that
can make work so enjoyable. I like my job but people like Liz make my
day all the more enjoyable, even if I only have time to talk for a few
minutes in the break room with her from time to time.

THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE

While I'm always busy looking at the latest gadgets and toys - iPods,
cameras, computer peripherals, software and bike upgrades - Donna gets
excited about the little things. I was reminded of this when she
darted for the dollar section at the under-construction Target in
Thousand Oaks. Kind of reminded me of a kid in a candy store!

MY WIFE THE PHOTOGRAPHER

After a journalism education and years of experience as a reporter and
an editor, Donna has finally realized that photography, not a pen and
notepad, is "where it's at." She seems to have a blast shooting photos
but them it's up to me to download them, edit, crop, color correct etc
- lots of fun after a week of picture editing!

A TRIP TO THE HUNTINGTON

It's a breezy 70 degree Sunday so we decided to visit The Huntington -
beautiful gardens and more. It's mother's day so the place is packed.

MY ADDIDAS

Once in a while I have to push someone's buttons and today I've got an
itch to rub Jason the wrong way - he's a friend of mine who works up
in Portland for none other than... you guessed it.... NIKE! How ya
like these flip flops Jason?

QUITTIN' TIME

With the father-in-law in town I pushed my work schedule back to 1-10,
the same hours as donna. Plus it saves on gas cuz we can drive to work
together!

LIKE WATCHING PAINT DRY

I've become attached to google maps, both on my iPhone and computer,
so it was almost painful to watch as Donna broke out the map book to
show me the locations on a few houses she spotted for sale in
Camarillo. Funny how times change. Why use an index to look up a
street when google maps will map the street and exact house number and
even offer an aerial image?

TWO RAYS OF SUNSHINE

What's better than being a mom and a dad? Being an aunt and an uncle!
We get to be cool aunt Donna and uncle Ray. Donna's sister was kind
enough to send us some 8X10 photos of Joey and Maggie and what better
place for such photos than framed above the fireplace.

THE MOST IMPORTANT MEAL

Out-of-town guests always seem to get us out of our routine of oatmeal
with bananas or cold cereal, and this is a good thing. With Donna's
dad in town we started the day with a late breakfast at Eggs-n-Things,
home to the best blueberry pancakes and huevos rancheros!

JUNE GLOOM

Yes, even here in Southern California there's a 'season' that nobody
looks forward to. They call it the June Gloom and it appears to have
arrived early this year. Just imagine a thick layer of clouds blocking
our view of the sunny blue skies for an entire month! Yuck.

A VISIT FROM THE FATHER-IN-LAW

Donna's dad is here spending a few weeks with us. When two people
share a three bedroom, two bathroom home, it's amazing how much you
get used to having your own space. Throw a third person into the mix
and it really throws me off - imagine what two or three kids would do
to me.

FUNNY ADVERTISEMENT

Leave it to the folks at Pearl Izumi (or at least the marketing
company that represents them) to come up with an ad like this. Donna
and I found it in our new ROAD magazine and I laughed my.....off!
