Great morning on the trails again today. Would have been an amazing day if Donna had been along.

Sunday morning on the trails

I was feeling less than energetic Sunday morning but we headed for the trails anyway. This was the only picture I took the entire time, mostly because I was simply to exhausted to do anything but ride.

New kicks, made just for me

I used to think running was so simple - throw on a pair of shoes and head out the door. Then I started having problems, with my feet among other things. Turns out, the $75 Nikes weren't quite right for me. After about an hour at RoadRunner in Newbury Park, I had myself a pair of shoes that are amazing. Custom insoles not to mention two different sized shoes, to fit my two-different-size feet, which turned out to be a 12.5 and a 13.5. When they played back my foot motion in slo-mo, it was no wonder I had been having problems and generally not enjoying running at all.
The first real test will be tomorrow night when I get home from work (I already went biking today, so I'm being lazy for the afternoon) and Donna head out for a three-mile jog.

Too hot to handle. I had to stick to my Sprite.

Tea time. Great dinner. Great company.

TAKING A TRIP DOWN MEMORY LANE

My sister was so kind as to send me a photo of an old childhood friend - TJ (aka Thomas Jr). As you can see, he was kind of a rock-star Cocker Spaniel.

THE LONG ROAD TO RECOVERY

We only went four days without riding, but it felt like it had been months. It's amazing what a little laziness will do to you. We took a ride to the beach today via Sycamore Canyon and the 2.5 hour ride really took a toll on us. The biggest problem was probably the fact that we had lunch before riding, which is very out of the ordinary for us. I'm afraid this sort of routine is something we'll have to get used to, given the long hours we'll probably be putting in at the office.

Pelicans are, and always will be, my favorite animals.

Great day for a ride to the beach, especially after five days of not riding.

Great breakfast, after yesterday's ride, while preparing for today's ride

I whipped up this magical breakfast this morning, hoping to both recover from yesterday's ride AND give me a boost for today's ride - a heated bagel thin with peanut butter, and a Honey Stinger Waffle (serious energy food.) Time will tell if it works.

Saw this while running an errand with Donna - I think it's called a 'magazine' rack

Even as someone who works in print media, I've adapted to online news so much that I forget about the other options. I enjoy interacting with and sharing content, to the point that I can't imagine going back to magazines. Yes, of course, I'm more than happy to pay for my electronic subscription.

I much prefer my crazy blonde wife to a nutty brewnette
